KLa Project returns with indie flavor.JAKARTA: After breaking up in 2003, KLa Project is returning with a different musical style — indie.
“In 1988, we tried to compose our songs as commercial as we could, but now we will follow our own will,” vocalist Katon Bagaskara was quoted as saying by detik.com on Monday.
KLa Project gained public attention in 1988, with their first album Tentang Kita (About Us). The first formation of KLa Project included Katon Bagaskara, Lilo Radjadin, Adi Adrian and Ari Burhani.
Form 1988 to 2000 the group released 11 albums, with popular hits including “Yogyakarta”, “Tak Bisa Ke Lain Hati” (Can’t Move to Another Heart) and “Semoga” (Hopefully). The band also received several music awards including seven BASF Awards from 1991 to 1994.
After several changes to the band’s formation after Lilo left in 2001, KLa Project failed to produce an album.
With three new members — Erwin Prasetya, Yoel Priyatna and Hari Goro — the band’s name was changed to NuKLa. But in 2006, Katon and Adi decided to reuse KLa Project as the band’s name and invited Lilo to return.
The band will release their new album, KLa Return, on Nov. 29. [Source: Thejakartapost]
